the man. the myth. the legend.

my great friend, kyle, just posted his new website, full of his most recent works and a few other simple details.  i’ve known him since we were wee lads in overalls + converse on the lower playground of park school elementary.  heads up, his talent will stop you in your tracks.

the mustache was soooo 2008, he’s moved onto the full on fisherman beard.  it was my birthday yesterday and kyle brought down + assembled this piece for me in my room, it takes up my whole waLL! no joke.  thanks friend.

we have to do more with less

r buckminster fuller

richard buckminster fuller might be one of the greatest designers of the 20th century.  an american architect, author, inventor, humanitarian, educator… the list goes on.  believing that everyone on “spaceship earth” [yes, he DID invent that term] could come together to work for a common good, bucky devoted his life to help reach this goal.

his understanding of lightweight, energy efficient geometric homes coined dymaxion houses [pictured below] which also stemmed his idea for a dymaxion car, a safer, more lightweight solution to the cadillacs of its time.  the car was equipped with two wheels in the front and one in the back, it seems to glide around the streets like a cockroach of sorts

i could never quite succinctly write what i think my life philosophy is, but now that i read this, i’m pretty sure mine would be extremely similar to bucky’s concept of his time on earth:

i live on Earth at present, and i don’t know what i am. i know that i am not a category. i am not a thing — a noun. i seem to be a verb, an evolutionary process — an integral function of  the universe.
