death.

April 15

what: biodegradable “shell” urn by LOTS group of swedish designers

why: cemeteries take up too much space.

shell1

the shell builds on the humanistic burial ceremony that disregards religious tradition and instead focuses on man’s role in nature.  the urn is made from pressed paper and dissolves in water over time.  it is a new way to leave this world, while showing appreciation for nature and good design.  for a cheaper version: put my ashes in a cardboard box and bury it.

“there is nothing quite so good as burial at sea. it is simple, tidy, and not very incriminating.”

If you die before me I will splurge and buy this for your ashes because you deserve more than a cardboard box…. come on!
