banq-1

these are images from banq restaurant in boston. the architect of the project is office da, and they have done a brilliant job manipulating the form of topography models to divide the space into articulated pockets. from the photos, they look like teardrops falling from the sky, or a dripping ice cream cone on a blistering hot day. there are strong lines throughout the space, some which run the length of the interior and trace along the wall before becoming the wooden ceiling details, creating heavy vertical patterns which are quickly juxtaposed with the curvature of the indivual pieces.
